The argument over whether or not tobacco companies should be forced into placing graphic warning labels on their products is one that has been raging for years. Around the world there have been several countries to adopt the policy and it looks as though Korea will be the next to try out the warning labels. The Korean ministry of health is looking to curb smoking as a whole in their country, which is not unexpected given the the very high number of smokers in that country.
The argument over the packs stems from whether or not it violates the rights of tobacco companies. The argument has been raging for some time and opponents say that smokers are already well aware of the physical effects of smoking. While the countries that have tried this have seen a decrease in smoking, those countries have different laws than what are seen in the US so the legality of such a measure here would be very difficult to decide upon.
