In what is coming as a bit of surprise to many smokers who had been looking to quit, acupuncture and hypnosis are gaining popularity and acceptance among experts as a means of smoking cessation. While there are still studies going on to determine just how helpful the alternative methods are, in one it was found that smokers who tried acupuncture were three times more likely to have quit smoking within a year. While there was an increase in smokers who succeeded at quitting after trying hypnosis, it is worth noting that test results were inconsistent.
It makes one wonder just what it is about the methods that seem to be having these results. It could be easily inferred that perhaps using the methods come as a confidence booster, especially if the smoker has tried to quit cold turkey in the past. By using either of the methods, the smoker may somehow subconsciously ease themselves into going without cigarettes. While the jury is still out on whether or not these methods have a hard scientific reason for the increase in successful quitters, results are being shown regardless.
